If there were ever an example of a politician talking out both sides of his mouth, Guam’s delegate, Rep. James Moylan, wears the crown.
On Aug. 27, he released a press statement declaring that island veterans and residents were experiencing unacceptable delays in receiving prescriptions and other mail. That was Wednesday. Read the press release here.
By Monday? Suddenly, there are no problems. All fine. All dandy.
And then today, word comes that packages leaving Guam are being held until Customs and the USPS can figure out how to process them. All fine? All dandy? Hardly.

See CNMI Delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds’ full statement below. On Aug. 30, she warned constituents that air mail to Guam and the CNMI had already been suspended due to Trump’s executive order:

By the way, if Moylan had actually read the column — and not just the misspelling of Trump’s name in a graphic — he would have noticed it was about air vs. sea mail, an issue he carefully avoided in his Tuesday response. The spin is in full effect.
If Moylan really solved Guam’s mail problems in less than a week between that press release and the CNMI delegate’s letter, then congratulations are in order. He should put “miracle worker” on his résumé. But let’s be honest — the problems aren’t fixed.
Residents are still waiting weeks for packages. Veterans are still anxious about prescriptions. And Moylan’s message seems to be: Don’t worry, nothing to see here.
That’s not leadership. Every other jurisdiction with a seat in Congress is scrambling to protect its people during uncertain times. Guam needs a strong ally and a delegate who will fight for us — not one who shrugs, spins, and changes his tune depending on the day.
And yes, in my earlier column, Trump’s name was misspelled in a graphic. Rookie error. My apologies to the former president’s ego. But if the only “fact” Moylan and local media want to hang their hats on is a typo — while ignoring the substance of the reporting, which was correct — then we’ve identified the real problem: distraction over accountability.
A few lessons worth repeating:
Spellcheck matters. Fine, point taken.
Fact-check matters more. Don’t just parrot what’s fed to you. That’s a dangerous way to do journalism, and a lazy way to do politics.
Credibility matters most. My Jungle Rules isn’t going anywhere. We dig deeper, we hold power to account, and we don’t let cheap deflections cloud the truth.
Because the truth is this: Guam residents deserve better than six-week waits for mail. They deserve better than selective outrage. And they definitely deserve better than a delegate who can’t keep his story straight.
By the way — here is the corrected graphic with Trump’s name spelled properly. Everything else remains the same, because the information remains correct. And here is your confirmation of its authenticity, guampdn.com. Enjoy.
